Making A Film With My Student

I met Rory, in the fall of 2020. I had started teaching at the height of the pandemic, so our time was mostly structured through the confines of a Zoom screen. While we did get half a semester in person, it was those months on Zoom that showed me just who Rory was, a storyteller.

Five years later, now a graduate of NYU, we got to sit down and talk as filmmakers and artists, instead of student and teacher. A truly surreal experience. As our conversation meandered along we eventually landed on the question of what are you looking to create next? Things went a little quiet, and then I said “We should collaborate on something”.

A few months passed and then we sat down for a filmed interview about Bronson Creative. The questions focused on the “Why” over the “How”, less about tech and more about what it is the gravitates artists to a specific art form. Some of the questions led to stories that I have never shared before, and some I hadn’t really even considered to be part of the reason I love the process.

If you are a filmmaker looking to get started on your own project, make sure to check out the free tutorials I have put together. I look forward to seeing what you create!
