A Patriotic Animated Film | Technicolor | 1950

In this technicolor animated satire, an auto mechanic named Albert falls asleep listening to a soapbox orator and wakes up in "Antrolia"—a regimented ant colony run entirely by an all-powerful state planning board. As Albert witnesses daily life under total central planning, quotas, and state-controlled jobs, he discovers the stark reality behind the promise of a "guaranteed" society.

The film was part of the Fun and Facts about America series, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation through Harding College's National Education Program to promote free enterprise and critique New Deal liberalism and communism.

Preserved and made accessible via the Library of Congress and the public domain, this film offers a rare historical look at early 1950s animation, political satire, and post-WWII economic messaging. About the Film: • Title: Albert in Blunderland • Release Date: 1950 • Production Company: John Sutherland Productions • Format: Technicolor / Animated Short • Copyright Status: Public Domain (U.S. Government & Historical Archive)
